Last weekend, I went to the park for a picnic with my best friend, Dora. We had looked forward for this day for a long time. We prepared a lot of delicious food, such as sandwiches and lemonade. We couldn’t wait.

When we got to park, we walked to a quiet place near the grass. We were so excited that we wanted to lay out the food at once. However, to our surprise, we found that neither of us brought the picnic mat. We both thought the other one would bring it.

We were upset and angry that we started to argue with each other. We blamed each other for being careless. The happy mood disappeared in a record. We sat on a bench without talking, feeling unhappy.

Just at that moment, I remembered what my mum always told me. She said that I should not always expect to be satisfied and that arguments couldn’t solve problems.

Friends should be kind and patient with each other. I took a deep breath and calmed down. I looked at Dora and said, “Don’t be angry. It’s just a small problem. There must be a small shop near the park. We can go and buy a new picnic mat.”

Dora thought for a while and agreed with me. We walked to the shop nearby and bought a small picnic mat. On the way back, we both said sorry to each other. We realized that it was not necessary to argue over such a small thing.

When we got back, we laid out the new mat and shared our food happily. We talked, laughed and enjoyed the beautiful view. This small mistake made our picnic even better. I learned that true friendship is about understanding and solving problems together. Maybe everything won’t always go the way we hope, but we need to accept reality. This day was really unforgettable.
