My Camping Trip

The winter holidays were here! Woo-hoo! My parents decided to invite my friend Margaret to come camping with me. We were so excited! We set out at seven o’clock and drove to the campsite.

“We’re here!” Mum said. Margaret and I ran around and played hide-and-seek in the bushes. We were having the time of our lives. Soon, the sun started to vanish behind the mountain, even though it was only five o’clock. We decided to go back because we were getting hungry! “Margaret, let’s go!” I yelled. “Coming!” she replied. We walked along a path that seemed to go on forever. After a little while, I saw the camp. “We’re here, Margaret! Margaret!” I turned around, but no one was there. I dashed into the bushes once more, trying to find her. I should have kept track of her! The thought kept replaying in my mind, over and over again.

Suddenly, I saw a bush move and a patch of grass waver. Then, two frightened eyes peeked out from behind the bushes – it was Margaret!

I brought her back to camp and we had a quiet dinner. She had some leaves stuck on her shirt and some dust to clean off. While she cleaned herself up, I changed into my pajamas and waited for Margaret. “Did you get it clean?” I asked. “Yep, it came off pretty easily!” “Don’t run off like that again!” I warned. “Don’t worry, your parents have told me that a thousand times!” We laughed it off.

When it comes to being in the wild, we should always pay attention to where we’re going and we should definitely bring a map.
