Trying Something New

When I was in the fourth grade, I took part in the school sports day meeting. For the first time, I came into contact with track and field events. I also was a 60 meter runner-up and won a silver medal.

I didn’t come at that time for track and field events. But in the fifth grade, I took part in the school sports meeting for the second time. This time I was the runner-up of 60 meters, but because I ran faster this time, I was invited to the school track team.

It was not until this time that I began to pay attention. The first time I took part in the Hong Kong competition, I only got the penultimate place. However, my coach, Mr. Xie, said, “It doesn’t matter this time. We’ll do it next time, now we are just looking at your running time”. This was the first time I failed in a big race.

When I was in the sixth grade, I participated in the academic competition for the first time. I won the runner-up in the men’s group A 100 meters. This is the first time I felt happy because I won the game (runner-up!).

I took part in my third school sports meeting. My first champion was the men’s 400 meter open champion. Although I felt ill after the run, I also felt delighted! Then I won the men’s senior 100m championship. I was also a champion in the 8x50 meter teacher student relay.

Although I will not always do sports in this direction, I will continue to work hard, to prepare for the Hong Kong wide competition on March 13th.

Teacher’s comment:

Good luck! It’s great to set goals and exercise regularly, ever if you don’t end up being a professional runner.
