Saving Santa
The alert came over the radio, “Emergency! Santa Claus is trapped in a chimney. Christmas will likely be canceled.” As soon as I heard it, I knew I had to do something and do it fast. I quickly gathered my gear and headed out the door, but I couldn’t shake the eerie feeling that someone was behind me.
Just as I turned around, a familiar voice whispered, “Wait for me!” It was my little brother, Travis, clutching his backpack stuffed with cookies and a flashlight. “I want to save Santa too!” he said bravely, though his mittens were shaking.
Together, we tracked Santa’s fading reindeer prints through the storm. Santa had lost his magical Christmas Star, stolen by the Grinch. Without it, his sleigh could not fly and his spirit was fading. Travis’s clever idea – to offer the Grinch a plate of our holiday cookies – melted his icy heart. He returned the Star and Santa’s cheeks grew rosy again.
At the end, I realized that kindness is the true meaning of Christmas.
Teacher’s comment:
Very well written, Myra! That’s the way to go!
