The Great Wall of China, National Protection Building

Have you ever seen the most magnificent wall in China, which is known as a national protection building?

The Great Wall is located in China, it was started as early as the 7th century BC (Spring & Autumn period) and continued through the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). It is famous as the world’s longest man-made structure, an ancient defense system built to protect China.

Well, no one really ‘invented’ or ‘built’ the Great Wall of China, but Qin Shi Huang and other emperors—the first emperor, in particular—famously unified existing walls into a larger defensive system

There is a story about it, during the construction of the Great Wall, they needed many young people to work as laborers, which led to the legend of Meng Jiangnu crying over the Great Wall. This also proves that the efforts required for building the Great wall were much greater than we could have imagined.

The cool thing I learned about is that the total length of the Great Wall is 21196.18km and there are 15 strategic passes from the East to the West.

It is still important today because it is a powerful national symbol of Chinese unity. All the Chinese people will mention it when introducing their hometowns. Visitors can hike along the restored sections or even toboggan down! They can also see Badaling & Mutianyu from the popular view spots.

Visiting the Great Wall of China can offer a wonderful opportunity to learn about the cultural of China. Come and visit it!
