Flag Selling
One Saturday morning, Anne and Kenny joined the school charity work of selling flags. At first, there weren’t many people who stopped by to buy, but as the morning went on more people slowed down to buy flags and donate. Around this time, they visited many different places, and soon the bags were filled with generous contributions.
After a whole morning of selling flags, they felt very hungry and tired so they went to eat something at a mall. They went to a fast food shop and bought some food. They set down the flag bags and enjoyed the food. Anne and Kenny were chatting happily about how much fun they had selling flags.
When they finished their food and got up to leave, they realized that the flag bags were missing. “The bags just disappeared”! Anne cried. They started looking for everywhere ─ under the tables around the shop. But the flag bags were nowhere to be found. They were so scared that someone had taken the money that they had worked so hard to collect.
Then, they started asking people in the mall if they had seen the bags but no one had a clue. Just as they were about to call their parents, and explain what happened, a tall young man with a big pair of glasses walked up to them. Anne and Kenny started backing away, when the man said, ‘I found you flags bags, I saw them fall and picked them up, I’ve been looking for the owner, and then I saw you guys. They thanked him and took the bags, they went to the charity office where the staff took the bags into the staff room. A few moment later, someone came and said, “The most money we’ve ever received!” They left happily. This is knowing they had made a real difference.
