This year, I went to Japan for vacation with my mom and dad before Chinese New Year. We spent one week there and came back to Hong Kong on the first day of Chinese New Year.

On the second day of Chinese New Year, I put on new clothes and went to my grandfather’s home for gathering with all my uncles, aunties and cousins. I greeted everyone a happy Year of Dragon and I earned a lot of red packets. Then we had lunch together. The lunch was a feast and I was so full.

In the afternoon, my uncle drove us to a village in Sha Tin to see the lion dance. It is a traditional dance in Chinese culture to bring good luck and fortune. It was an awesome performance. We enjoyed it very much. During the visit, I met some more people and I got more red packets.

Chinese New Year is one of my favourite festivals in the year. First, we can have a long holiday. Second, I can get a lot of red packets from adults. Last but not least, I can enjoy traditional Chinese New Year activities like lion dance and delicious food.
