Home Alone

The phone rang. “Hello,” I said. No one was there. I hung up. All the lights went out “Sister, don’t prank me like this, you know I hate it and I am fearful of the dark.” I shouted. No one answered. And then I remembered. I was home alone. I panicked to turn the lights on. “Click”, the light went back. “Phew”, I said, relieved. But that was not the end.

While I was going back to my bedroom, the light turned off again. “What is going on? It must be a mistake, it must be the wind, I guess?” I told myself, trying to calm myself down. My whole body shivered and shook. My mind was blank, I didn’t know what to do. Should I call my parents or call the police, or should I turn the light back on?

I went back to my bedroom and hid in my blanket. Then I started hearing voices outside the door. “Come out, come out. Wherever you are”, a person said close to the door. And then the footsteps stopped. My breathing went faster, my heart was pounding like it was going to explode, my body felt like I was going to faint. I looked everywhere, trying to find a place to escape. Then it caught me, the window opened.

I climbed out and ran through the fence and vanished into my neighbor’s house before the person opened the door. I told my neighbors everything. They believed in me and called my parents.

After my parents heard the things that happened, they rushed back home and hugged me. “Honey, we are never letting you home alone ever again.” But I was wondering where and who is the person?”
